For the second time the ‚mp43 – project-space for the peripheral‘ takes the phenomenon of the stamp and put it in the center of the interest.
In 2016 the artists from The Dune (Namibian – German artists group) were invited. The artists create a poststamp with the subject of their choice, and thus to design a collector’s item of a special kind.
In the age of new media the poststamp for a long time was in the background. Some years ago it was assumed that it disappears from the market, as more and more people use the electronic possibilities.
But today it is clear, the postage stamp will have keep getting their place as a collector’s item.
In recent times, the poststamp, exactly like the LP record, became a cult object!
It is considered emblematic for the exchange of information and the networking of people. These meanings characterize of the present day.
For the contemporary art discourse has become the stamp again the focus and gets a new meaning as an art object.
