“Altitude Sickness: Asteroids and Angels (and the Weight of the World)”
Listening session: Samstag 5. November 2016, 20 Uhr (doors open 7 pm)
“Altitude Sickness: Asteroids and Angels (and the Weight of the World)” is comprised of a montage of audio recordings and live readings of several texts, including David Eagleman’s short story “Sum,” Albert Camus’ “The Myth of Sisyphus,” and two stories from the artist herself, “I Dropped My Phone: Notes on the Roundest Object in the World” and “Walking to Outer Space.” The session will be about one hour long.
The event is being held parallel to Elizabeth McTernan’s exhibition as an element of paratext, further connecting her work to concepts of the metageophysical, the “invention” of outer space, extraterrestrial weightlessness as it relates to the Information Age and the virtual realm, and collapse – whether cartographic, physical, political, or historical.
